These are the “Felties” being displayed at mum’s summer fete.

The designs are based on dolls designed by Shelly Down, who can be found at http://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/Gingermelon

They are about 10 inches in height and can be made to order, each design will have elements of uniqueness to give them personality.

Each doll costs £25, for an extra £5 they will come with their own storage box and beautiful herb sachet.

The “x” button placed above their heart is a reminder that they hold wishes and dreams.

Coming soon…Wyrd Poppets, the “Altar Doll”, these “unique” designed poppets will be something really special, designed for the celebrating the wheel of year.

More will be revealed before the end of summer.

Time for a shave

Ok, so here we are, boxes made √ , box labels √, display poster and contact cards…..nearly!

So me thinks wouldn’t my logo look great printed on the box, oh yeah!…. Right I will make a stamp…hell yeah!

Hang on never made one of those before…nope never stops me, need to take my mind off Peter Capaldi’s impending departure as “Dr Who”, god I’m devastated, I hope they are not planning to put another child in his place, ho, they all look young young now 😱

So I have materials brought to practice with, you know like potato prints we did as children, I will start with a star…..nope straight for the Logo, ha,ha, me terrified no….take it easy and slow, thankfully the Logo is meant to be naive… here we go………….

Wait for it….dear goddess sometimes I even stun myself, its exactly the effect I wanted, even without a special roller and ink ( which I will get when I have few more pennies)

Wyrd poppet

So your asking what is Wyrd well although it is pronounced “weird” that’s where the similarity ends, wryd is not about being different its about fate\destiny in Norse, Anglo Saxon context, the lovely thing about our language, our lingual roots is that old English words are really rather beautiful, and some words are just so beautiful to pronounce. Being deaf does not occlude me from spoken language in fact it makes words even more beautiful to me.

Do you ever stop and repeat a word because it sounds beautiful, I do and I love words that a different but describe the difference.

Ever thought about rain, well its not just rain is it, we have different types of rain, cats and dogs, piddling, drizzle and I love the Scot description mizzle, mizzle just roll that round your tongue, just beautiful.

Hubby and I were visiting Berlin many moons back and we were told that Germany doesn’t know or have the type of rain we call drizzle, how strange, but that’s the beauty of language.

So What is a Poppet?

I felt something was missing, we have dolls, lots and lots of them, but when I look for an “altar” doll representation for the changing season within the pagan world, they exist but not in the way I perceive them, so I thought why not make my own and then see if other people are interested in them too.

A poppet is a naive style doll, a familiar given to children but these are more than just dolls, these poppets hold wishes, spells and in some cases curses, they are simply made and can be called different names some you may recognise like rag doll, voodoo doll, spirit doll.  I wanted to create an essence of the past and incorporate my pagan thoughts and feelings, an elemental poppet in fact.

So this is what I have been doing the past few weeks, I am designing an Altar Poppet, but you will see different versions being developed over the next few months as trial and test my designs.

In fact I have a small range of colourful “felties” completed as mum wants me to display some dolls at her summer fete, these dolls are just for fun, while I develop my elemental altar dolls…I shall be posting pictures of them here and on FB…watch this space

Oh and what’s happening at “The Lottie” well my annual hayfever curse has struck, oh its like a form of torture to be a gardener with hayfever 😰

Where on earth

Hello Peeps,

I’m back…its been a busy few weeks, a lovely holiday in our beloved Brixham, familiar, comfortable and restful.

Got caught out by a “manifest” in a new pub we tried, chatting happily, enjoying the ambience, next thing I look at hubby and his face is aghast, whats wrong I ask, apparently I am crying and rambling, I start to feel quite overwhelmed as I had no idea …what’s going on….exit the pub at speed feeling really disorientated.

I pick up “energies” a lot but it is quite rare thankfully to have a possession like that, I should be more protected methinks I was complacent as I had not had one for a while and my guard was down. Note to self, new places must wear Obsidian.

Upcoming blog…” My Haunted Brixham”
