Sloaning

Well some of you may know I can be tempted by a pot of paint like some of us are tempted by chocolate.

I was skimming through a magazine and suddenly I fell in love. I have been looking for a pot of something special and Annie Sloan’s Lem Lem is perfect. I need to see my mate Jacki at ChalkandLinen.co.uk

Right so we are in lockdown, oh bum! Wonderful Jacki came to my rescue and went on the hunt for my little pot of special and sent it in the post.

Meanwhile, I made an unscheduled stop at a supermarket with only one person in the lockdown queue in front of me…if there had been more than three I would not have stopped, lol.

To my joy Annie Sloan’s inspiring tomb had just arrived. Who could resist, forgoed my chocolate in favour of the colours of the rainbow, joy indeed.

Watch this space for a very unusual up-cycle 😉

Fallen Fae 2

Here we go with the second in my Fallen Fae Poppets, she will be going on the Pagan Poppet Etsy site later today.

It’s taking longer than I thought, I’m working full time from home and you would think I have more time, but due to Covid-19 there has actually been a lot of sitting down and vegetating, staring into the distance and some kind of melancholy has overtaken.

I walked up with Flynn to Parliament’s Piece and saw the wildflowers peeking through and I thought that is what is missing, we humans think too much, ‘it’s a moment in time that will pass and the birds, bees and flowers don’t care, they just live through the seasons and that’s just what we should do.

Her wings are ready to fly

Fallen Fae

Well another post already …..I am finally happy with my first “ickle” Poppet, ooh she’s about 8 inches or 21 cms in European measurements.

She is the first of my “Fallen Fae” her name is Spring.

I love the “ painted tattoos” of “Neo” pagan faces and want to incorporate the “war paint” in a range of poppets…the Fallen Fae are my celebration of this….More as the year progresses.

Fallen Fae “Spring”

As always my Poppets will be up for sale on the Etsy Pagan Poppet website.

Herne is Ready for the Shop

Here he is finally “suited and booted” climbing out of February Fug. Some parts of the year can impede creativity and February seems to the hard month for me, not enough light or colour.

I had a note this week , which woke me up, asking me if Herne is ready, so here are the shop photos

Herne the Hunter

…and here he is doing his moody look into the distance.

Hello

Imbolc 2.02.2020

Poppets on my Imbolc Altar and the air is full of incense, the snowdrops are in bloom, some early crocuses too, a sliver of pale yellow primrose to welcome the return of the light here in Blighty. Blessed and welcoming the entrance of Spring. 🔥🌓🕯

Fallen Fae…not just for Christmas

In between coughing, with my head being held up by sheer will power, I’ve dragged myself from bed, as I’m sick of being sick, to my work table to work on my first “Fallen Fae” Poppet. My “Fire” is kinda rubbish for close up work but it gives you a little idea of what is emerging from my addled brain, and I’m in love already.

She is only about 12cm at the moment as arm and legs length are yet to be decided. “Fallen Fae” are not just for Christmas, me do normal, not bloomin likely. 😜

Better Late than never

Gosh how the time has flown this year, so, so busy in the day job, too super exhausted to work on my poppets.

The good news is I have met some fab people both in person and on line this year, inspirational people who are lucky enough to create for a living, who work exceptionally hard to sell their work and make very little money from it. Yes it’s a big market out there and only a few who make it to the top, there are so many people creating around the world.

I am also lucky that I still have a job this year to keep the home running and am still able to keep crafting. I love my Poppets, as each individual personality is created with my hands and I never know who will emerge.

It’s late in the day to get these out for Yule but I will have one on my festive tree maybe you will have one too…..

These are mini Poppets to hang on a branch or sacred space, their bodies will be full of herbs, so will smell gorgeous and this batch will be quite wintery in design so perfect for the Winter Solstice up to Imbolc. I will publish as I go so if you see something you like let me know. 💋

Herne the Hunter

My Male Poppet is now taking shape, I love how a character emerges from concept to actuality. His costume will be in earthy tones to represent this environment.

Hope you are all looking forward to Samhain, still time to buy a Poppet from my Etsy site 😁
